Katherine Learson was born in Washington, DC on December 3, 1942. She passed away August 31, 2010 in Manhattan, NY. Kate is much loved and will always be remembered by all her friends and family.
Kate was an accomplished artist, author, model, adventurer and – most of all – beloved mother. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. Her endless kindness, love and caring live with us all.
She is survived by her three sisters, two sons, grandson and beloved dog, Max.
Services and reception will be held at 3pm at St. James church in Manhattan on Friday, September 10.

Thoughts
Kate and I were classmates at Vassar. To this day, I have always thought of her as a wonderful friend. Our lives separated us, but I had always thought I would reconnect one day. Sadly, I did not and only this week did I learn of her passing. There are many of us out there who knew her and loved her spirit, those eyes, and that amazing smile. In my mind, she will always be Kate Learson, a very special person who made my life brighter for a few years.

Kate and I were classmates at Vassar and, 46 years ago this month, she was a bridesmaid in my wedding. Oh, La Belle Kate! We saw each other intermittently when she and Dick lived in NYC and White Plains but sadly did not keep in touch after that. I only learned of her much too early death when I picked up the latest issue of the VC Alumnae magazine. Thank heavens for Google which brought me to this web site, where I learned of her extraordinary life. Lesson learned: keep in touch with old friends.

Kate was a classmate of mine at Vassar. I am so sorry that I hadn't seen her in recent years and more sorry to learn of her passing. She was beautiful and sweet--the epitome to me of the smart and lovely Vassar girl. The Class of 1964 will all miss her.
